Engine and Transmission

 

The 2021 Kia Seltos has two available engines: the 146 hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and the 175 hp 1.6-liter turbo engine, while the Sportage has a standard 181 horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine on the SX Turbo trim level. The Seltos has an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) and the Sportage has a six-speed automatic transmission. 

 

All-Wheel Drive

 

Both the 2021 Kia Seltos and the 2020 Sportage have available Dynamix all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. The Dynamax™ Full-time AWD system is able to sense road conditions and distribute the appropriate torque to the wheels that need it. The driver-activated Lock Mode provides added low-speed traction in very poor road conditions. With the Seltos, AWD is standard on the lowest trim level, LX, for just $21,990. It is also standard on the EX, S Turbo and SX Turbo, and available on the S. AWD is available on all Sportage trim levels, however, front-wheel drive is standard. 

 

Fuel Efficiency

The 2021 Kia Seltos with the standard 2.0-liter engine gets 27 MPG city, 31 MPG highway and 29 combined. With the turbo engine it gets 25 city, 30 highway and 27 combined. When equipped with the 2.4-liter engine, the Sportage gets 23 city, 30 highway and 26 combined. The Turbo SX get 20 city, 28 highway and 23 combined. 

 

Exterior and Styling 

 

The 2020 Sportage has a sophisticated exterior with striking curves and sweeping lines. The front fascia has a rounded hood, pronounced headlights and a unique grille. Choose from 17-, 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels and eight exterior colors: Clear White, Sparkling Silver, Steel Gray, Pacific Blue, Burnished Copper, Hyper Red, Black Cherry and Snow White Pearl.The 2021 Kia Seltos has a sharper, more angular appearance. With Kia’s signature tiger-nose grille with ornate diamond-like details, modern LED headlights and available chrome beltline, the exterior styling of the Seltos communicates confidence and athleticism. A pronounced lower bumper provides a sharper approach angle and metal-look front and rear skid plates protect your vehicle against the elements. The 2021 Seltos is available in a wide range of color options including Sparkling Silver, Pacific Blue, Hyper Red, Snow White Pearl, Burnished Copper, Steel Gray, and Black Cherry. 

 

The Sportage is slightly larger than the Seltos at 176.4 inches in length and 64.4 inches tall. The Seltos is 172 inches long and 63.6 inches tall. Both are available with a roof rack.

Interior and Technology 

The Seltos and Sportage both offer seating for five with 60/40 Split-Folding Rear Seats. 

For a more luxurious ride, you can choose to add available leather-trimmed seating and heated and ventilated front seats. The Seltos offers 26.6 cubic feet of cargo space, while the Sportage offers 30.7 cubic feet of cargo space. 

 

Both the 2021 Seltos and the 2020 Sportage offer Kia’s outstanding tech and driver convenience features. Remote keyless entry is standard with both vehicles so you never need to worry about digging your keys out of your pockets or purse. For your infotainment, both come standard with an eight-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capability and a rear backup camera. The Sportage offers an available Harman Kardon premium surround sound and Clari-Fi restoration technology, and the Seltos has an available Bose premium audio system with mood lighting that pulses to the beat of your music! 

 

Safety

The 2020 Kia Sportage has a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA and is an IIHS 2020 Top Safety Pick. The 2021 Kia Seltos has not yet received safety ratings, however, it is equipped with new safety features like available Kia Drive Wise systems, making driving safer and easier, including Blind Spot Collision Warning, Highway Driving Assistance, Lane Departure Warning System, Smart Cruise Control, and more. The Sportage also has available Kia Drive Wise technology.
