BBQ Lovers will enjoy taking this Tasty Tour around the State!

Gas up your ride, roll down the windows and get ready for some BBQ! We’re helping you plan a BBQ tour around Central Arkansas to ignite your taste buds. Here’s a list of our favorites and a few you may have never heard of!

H B’s Bar B.Q.

Opened in 1961, H B’s is far from being a hole in the wall. This family-owned and -operated joint likes to do things old-fashioned… and we’re talking cold-hard-cash old-fashioned. If you want to chow down on the best potato salad, beef, pork, tamales and beans that Little Rock has to offer, be sure to bring cash as H B’s doesn’t accept cards or checks. A little odd, but trust us-- this is some of the best BBQ you’ll ever have. Check out H B’s Facebook page for more information on this local favorite.

Jones’ Bar-B-Q Diner

If you’re headed east of Little Rock, be sure to make a pit stop in Marianna. Jones’ Bar-B-Q Diner is believed to be one of the oldest African-American owned restaurants in the nation. A quick search for a menu results in a simple sentence, “Hours are 7 a.m. until the food runs out-- There is NO menu.” Jones’ serves one item, a pork BBQ sandwich on wonder bread. This one item has garnered nationwide praise, even being highlighted on the Food Network. Be sure to get there early, you don’t want the food to run out! For more information and backstory on Jones’ head over to their Facebook page

Gene’s BBQ and Family Restaurant

Turn back around and stop in Brinkley for another local favorite, Gene’s. At Gene’s you can chow down on breakfast any time of the day, sample an old-fashioned, blackberry or peach cobbler or eat what everyone is here for… BBQ. Pork barbeque, beef barbeque, chicken barbeque and pork ribs, whew, anyone else feeling hungry? Check out their menu and decide what you’re going to try when you stop at Gene’s!

Pig ‘N Chik BBQ

Last up on our tour is Pig ‘N Chik located in Sherwood, Ark. You’re always in for a surprise at Pig ‘N Chik, whether it’s BBQ spaghetti or fried gizzards, you can always bet on a delicious item being offered on their menu. For the adventurer and lover of food, you can’t go wrong stopping at this fan-favorite BBQ joint. Pig ‘N Chik is open for lunch and dinner, perfect for hitting multiple stops on your tour in one day. Read more about Pig ‘N Chik by heading to their Facebook page.
