The first generation, the 2017 Kia Niro is available in five trim levels: FE, LX, EX, Touring and a limited quantity Launch Edition. Starting MSRP is $22,890.

The 2017 Kia Niro comes standard with a 1.6-liter Atkinson cycle, Gasoline Direct Injection 4-cylinder engine, Lithium-ion polymer battery and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Instead of leaking like a carburetor, the engine has a high-pressure fuel pump that sprays the gas into the engine. The engine creates 103 horsepower and an additional 43-horsepower tractive motor works alongside the gasoline engine to produce a total of 146 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.

As a hybrid, the vehicle utilizes electric and gas to save energy for an increased driving range. Thanks to its hybrid powertrain, the 2017 Kia Niro gets up to an impressive 50 MPG combined average and produces less emissions. The Niro isn't limited to 50 MPG, though. Our customers have gotten 63 MPG on a trip.

Even more impressive, the 2017 Kia Niro holds the Guinness World Record for lowest fuel consumption while driving across the USA from coast to coast. The new record is 76.6 MPG.

Wayne Gerdes of Carlsbad, California and Robert Winger of Williamsburg, Virginia traveled 3,715.4 miles in a Niro EX from Los Angeles City Hall to New York City Hall on 4.1 tanks of gas (48.5 gallons). The vehicle wasn't altered in any way for the attempt. That brings new meaning to the term "fuel efficient."

The Niro is a Hybrid Utility Vehicle (HUV) and is designed for functionality as well as efficiency with subtly sculpted surfaces that keep aerodynamics in mind. Its wide and low proportions, long roofline and short overhangs give it an athletic look. Exterior features include: High Intensity Discharge projector beam headlights, LED positioning lamps, LED rear combination lamps, side vents for air pass-through, 18-inch rims with twin 5-spoke design or 16-inch rims with glossy covering and eight vibrant paint coat colors. And, of course, it wouldn't be a Kia without a tiger-nose grille.

Inside the HUV lie a wealth of features. Available heated and cooling front seats, available heated steering wheel, available 10-Way Power Driver's Seat, available Integrated Memory System, 60/40 split-folding rear seats and ample cargo space with a pullover cover in the rear and hidden storage compartments make for an enjoyable ride.

It wouldn't be a comfortable ride if you could hear road noise over your music. Noise and vibration countermeasures were employed into the design with engine mounts, equal-length driveshafts and a damper inside the steering wheel hub.

When it comes to tech, this crossover is loaded. Available features to make your ride the most enjoyable include: Harman Kardon Sound System with more than 11 speakers; smart charging with two 12V outlets, wireless charging pad and auxiliary and USB ports.

Safety is always at the forefront of every Kia, and the Niro can definitely protect you.  With Smart Cruise Control, Rear-Camera Display, Parking Assist, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, you'll have the confidence to drive and park anywhere.

We have plenty of the 2017 Niro on the lot, and we want you to experience how fun it is to drive this hybrid crossover. Come by and take the Niro out for a test drive or fill out the form on the right for more information. We can't wait to serve you at Steve Landers Kia!
